Groucho

Groucho was our Grey Cheek Parakeet.

Please share with us the fond memories of a member of our family who passed away on Monday, July 14th, 2003 at 3:30 am. Groucho had been with Nan since before we met. Nan got Groucho in 1983 and he’s been her constant companion ever since. He’s been cute, playful, boisterous, LOUD, quiet, loving, funny and a thousand other things to both of us over the years. He especially loved his quality time with Nan in the mornings. He’d start hiding under her hair and then come down to her chest where he would lay quietly, sometimes sleeping, sometimes preening. He slowed down as he got older but was always ready to give a good yelling over anything and everything that didn’t please him. His whistles, water drop sounds, blowing kisses and even his screams will be sorely missed. The hole in our house where is cage used to be is much smaller than the hole in our hearts where he will always be.

A poem given to us by the S.O.P.H.I.E. LA Pet Cemetery

In Memory
Those we love remain with us,
for love itself lives on.
Cherished memories never fade,
because a love one is gone.
Those we love can never be,
more than a thought apart.
For as long as there is memory,
they’ll live on in our heart.

He will be missed greatly by us.
